In Recovery: for the recovering community and family members
Welcome to the InRecovery section of Addicton Today!
This aims to support people recovering from addictions/dependencies of any kind, and their family members. Recovering people who are isolated geographically can participate in the forum above. Those who lack information can seek it here - and we will endeavour to answer specific queries. If you wish to share more publicly, just send us your views and we can publish them here - just as family member Mark A has below.
A fully comprehensive site dedicated to the recovering community is under construction, and we hope to go live before the end of April. In the meantime, tell us what services you want - and we hope that this interim support in Addiction Today will help those who need it.
These Addiction Today services are free to the recovering community and those close to them.

"Nearly two years on, the memories come back faltering and heavy – and out of place. Ghosts still swirl in my head, but they don’t have the power they did. I can’t remember when we really came to understand that my brother’s drink problem was indeed alcoholism, and severe. It was a sort of ever-encroaching thing, the pattern repeating itself over and over again. The thing was: we didn’t really know what to do, or what was really going on. We made the same mistakes over and over again – the cajoling, the threats, the fighting, the clearing up of any problems, his flat, the giving him money etcetera. THE COURAGE TO CHANGE
LCNA17 – London Convention Registration Committee
The 17th London convention will be held at Friends Meeting House, 173 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ, on the 11th, 12th and 13th of April 2007.
This three-day event will be made up of meetings, workshops and will host guest speakers from around the world. It will provide a safe environment for the recovering addict to celebrate their recovery at what has become a fantastic celebration of fellowship and recovery in Narcotics Anonymous. The usual registration fee for the convention is £15, and £7.50 for the party on Saturday 12th. However, this year the committee is reducing those fees to people who are currently in treatment, in the spirit of attracting newcomers to the event. This means prices have been set at £7.50/person, excluding entrance to the dance which has not been discounted. For newcomers, some free places might be made available.
If you are unable to purchase tickets before the event and intend to send clients from your facility, please ensure they have a letter on headed paper stating the number of people in the group.
